This post is in response to the people whining about how the Japanese cosplayers are professionals and the Americans are just people trying to have a good time.
These are the best American Cosplayers (at least as far as compititions and popularity go):
Do I really need to say more? These costumes are made of good materials (and the costumes look good, on their own), but something is still not right.
I got a few replies and emails telling me that the Japanese have access to Cosplay stores (cospa for those of you who don’t know) and materials. So what? We Americans have crazy access to cloths, patterns, thrift shops (for the ever important horde of belts), tailors, scrap metal, art supplies, tiaras and tails.
I’m just saying that Americans either need to stick to our original masquerading (i.e. Star Wars, Star Trek) or think of a better way to try to rip off cosplaying (which is just a crappy rip off of American masquerading).
I guess, in the end, we all lose. We all lose….
Peace out, homeskillets.
